Publishers getting in on the act

Following the news we brought you about Twitter being used to recreate a chapter of classic novel Ulysses, it seems the site has inspired yet more literary-related endeavours.

Penguin Classics is publishing what's described as a "Cliff's Notes-style book" about literature from two University of Chicago freshmen.

As the title would suggest, "Twitterature: The World's Greatest Books, Each Presented in Twenty Tweets or Fewer" is a book about books, written in 140-character blasts.

As well as this forthcoming masterpiece, the Wall Street Journal reports that publishers rushing to capitalise on the Twitter phenomenon have also okayed a book from Gawker blogger Nick Douglas called "Twitterwit" about witty tweets and David Pogue's "The World According to Twitter".
