Another variant, but still no word of a UK launch

Verizon in the US has announced that it is the latest operator to take the HTC Snap.

Following hot on the heels of Sprint and T-Mobile with the Snap and Dash 3G respectively, the HTC Ozone, as it will be called, is virtually identical to the Snap and Dash in specs but features a slightly different keyboard layout.

The phone, which hopes to appeal to BlackBerry and Nokia E71 series users, features a 2-megapixel camera, runs Microsoft's Windows 6.1 operating system and comes with the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Being Verizon, the handset will come with CDMA as well as GSM/GPRS/EDGE support.

Elsewhere users get a 2.4-inch screen, AGPS and the promise of 324 hours standby and 4.8 hours talktime, considerably less than the 8.5 hours T-Mobile is claiming for their offering of the same phone.

US citizens should expect the new handset to land in July for $49.99 after a $70 mail-in rebate with a new 2-year customer agreement.

HTC has yet to confirm whether or not the HTC Snap is due to be launched in the UK.
