Intel strikes chip deal with Nokia

First foray into mobile market

If reports are to be believed, Intel has made a deal with Nokia to supply processors for the Finnish phone giant's handsets. It represents Intel's first steps into the mobile market.

It's rumoured that it'll be Intel's Atom processor that'll be making an appearance. The low-power chip has done exceptionally well in the netbook market.

The mobile chip market is currently dominated by companies like Texas, Qualcomm and Freescale. With Nokia's ambitions towards making their mobile phones more like handheld computers, an Intel tie-up could prove fruitful.
