Huawei's Android phone sees official launch

U8230 heading to T-Mobile?

Huawei's Android phone that we've brought you news of prior to its formal release has now been officially launched by the manufacturer.

The Android-powered U8230 is due a "commercial release" (Huawei is an OEM maker that sells its products on to other companies to re-badge) in the second half of 2009.

Huawei says the U8230 offers a 3.5-inch touchscreen and lets users switch between full and half QWERTY keyboards.

Apparently the phone offers Google's Chrome browser with apps such as Google Maps, Google Search and Google Talk. With a decent 1500 mAH battery, the only other confirmed spec is the 3.2-megapixel camera.

Previous reports have pegged the Huawei-flavoured Android effort a T-Mo launch.
