Land Rover S1 priced for the UK

Rugged handset on sale this month

The Land Rover S1 by Sonim that we brought you news of from February's Mobile World Congress event has now been priced and dated to go on sale in the UK.

Aimed at not just owners of the 4 x 4 vehicles, the phone is a grrrr-tastic, super-rugged effort that - and you know the drill by now - can be dropped, drowned and dirtied to your heart's content with no ill effects.

IP-67 rated, for anyone who knows what that means, the S1 can stay in water for 30 minutes and is resistant to extreme pressure of up to 400kg, so presumably would survive being sat on by Giant Haystacks, while the extra loud speakers should mean you'd still hear it ring under such circumstances.

Specs include a 2-megapixel camera, built-in GPS, torch, FM radio, Bluetooth and WAP browsing via an Opera browser.

The Land Rover S1 by Sonim will be available through www.landroverphone.co.uk or www.gomobileuk.com this month for £299.99.
