Nokia announces 3710 fold

Compact, capable clamshell

15 June 2009 17:33 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Nokia has announced the 3710 fold, a "compact" clamshell that it describes as a "good-looking, intuitive and easy-to-use handset with modern features" offering "great value for money".

Just what great value for money the new phone is won't be revealed until its launch in the fourth quarter of 2009, but its pre-tax, pre-subsidy price is 140 euros, so it does come in on the more budget side of things.

With an "artistic pattern" on the cover, and the not one but two shades of pink the phone will be offered in, it's safe to assume Nokia is aiming the device at the fairer sex.

Not all has been revealed specs-wise but we do know it will offer a 3.2-megapixel camera with video capture, microSD card slot for up to 8GB cards, a "bright" screen, and support for the Ovi Store

The 3710 is the first in a line of Nokia handsets to offer a "renewed" ("yet still familiar") user interface as well as "internal GPS" for location-based services.

We will bring you more on the new clamshell's launch nearer its Q4 debut.
