Microsoft and Google trade blows over Wave and Bing

Wave is "anti-web", Bing is done "about once a year"

Microsoft and Google have been trading blows over their recently announced products, with Microsoft calling Wave "anti-web", and Google dismissing Bing as something Microsoft does "about once a year".

First was Microsoft's chief software architect, Ray Ozzie, who said that Wave violates the principle that "complexity is the enemy of the web". He said that without open-source, the venture would falter due to its complicated nature.

Then, Google CEO hit back by telling Fox Business Network that Bing is "not the first entry for Microsoft. They do this about once a year". He added: "I don't think Bing's arrival has changed what we're doing. We are about search, we're about making things enormously successful, by virtue of innovation".

Here's hoping that the two companies keep at it - it's been a while since we've had a good tech flamewar. The Microsoft/Apple, and Apple/Palm fights seem to have quietened down of late.
