Toshiba has announced the launch of its Satellite consumer laptop series, giving a brief overview of four new models due to the UK this summer.

Angled from the casual everyday user to those looking to manage and create their own multimedia, feature highlights include a new touchpad with multi-touch control and a Eco function for energy saving.

The Toshiba Satellite A500 is aimed at those looking for "powerful" multimedia performance, offers Harman Kardon speakers and multi dual-layer DVD drive on some models.

With a 16-inch, 16:9, TruBrite, 1366 x 768 resolution display, the A500 is powered by "the latest" Intel and AMD processing technology and also boasts an HD webcam, as well as that afore-mentioned multi-touch trackpad.

The Toshiba Satellite U500 is a more portable version of the A500 with a 13.3-inch WXGA TruBrite display and is offered in a "elegant Luxe Brown finish".

Toshiba's new Satellite L500 and L550 models are described as widescreen models designed to offer "high quality everyday computing performance on a budget".

The Satellite L500 gets a 15.6-inch TruBrite display, while the L550 features 17.3-inch screen with various options available including the choice of Intel or AMD processors.

Toshiba's new Satellite range is due to arrive in the UK in July with full specifications and pricing to be announced at a later date.
