Including archive material from way back when

Channel 4 has announced it is set to become the first UK broadcaster to make all its archived programming available on its website completely free of charge, beating the BBC's popular iPlayer service to such an announcement.

From July archived content will be added to the service meaning for the first time PC, Mac and Linux users who go to www.channel4.com will be able to watch "classic" Channel 4 shows from throughout its history including "Queer As Folk", "Trigger Happy TV" and "Drop The Dead Donkey".

Channel 4 relaunched its website and 4oD service in April, and says it saw a 111% increase in viewing the first month after the revamp.

However, current users of the 4oD desktop application should also note that once all the archived content is available via Channel4.com, the desktop client will no longer be supported.
