The Facebook for BlackBerry 1.6 application has is now available to download to your RIM smartphone.

New features and improvements include the ability to view your friend's status updates and other highlights on the home page.

In addition, RIM says photo uploads and wall posts are now just a click away and you can comment on a photo, poke a friend, etc, also direct from the home page.

Another highlight for the new versions is that photo viewing is now available in a "simple, easy-to-use" slideshow format with the option to scroll back and forth through the thumbnails along the bottom to display the larger picture in the center of the screen.

With support for three new languages Thai, Indonesian and European Portuguese, the app is online now at www.blackberry.com/facebook.
