Is this the Apple iPhone 3GS?

New name emerges as fresh spy-shots appear online

Ahead of today's Apple keynote at its WWDC event in San Fran, more rumours - and yet more spy-shots - have emerged.

While we are just hours away from finding out whether Apple will launch a new version of its mobile phone, DaringFireball states the new device's code-name is the iPhone "3GS", which may or may not be its final product name.

As well as supposedly revealing the name of the new phone, the blog asserts the next-gen mobile will get significantly faster processors, twice the RAM, and twice the storage with a video camera as "a major selling point".

In addition, the new iPhone is said to get a welcome battery life improvement lasting 15% to 20% longer than the iPhone 3G.

The looks of the new phone are said to stay similar to the current version, something apparently backed up with some leaked (Photoshopped?) pics fresh out of France.

The new images appear to show a front-facing video camera and a matte black casing with no chrome border.

Pocket-lint will bring you all the WWDC keynote news after 6pm tonight, so be sure to check back for the official news.
