Sagem Communications has announced the availability of its new "top-of-the-range", HDMI digital TV recorders.

The new DTR 67320T Eco and DTR 67500T Eco offer hard drive memories of 320GB and 500GB respectively, with the claim of recording capacities of 160 and 250 hours.

With an 8-day electronic programme guide, the PVRs let you pause, rewind and record live TV, boasts series recording and the ability to record two channels at the same time plus watch a recorded one, as well as picture-in-picture functionality.

Offering HDMI upscaling, Sagem claims the units can improve the quality of your picture to 1080i or 720p.

The new products also boast a USB transfer function that lets you side-load recorded content onto a USB memory stick, as well as play MP3 files and view pics on a USB stick on your telly.

The "Eco" tag comes in with the device's energy consumption of less than 2W in standby mode. The DTR67320 Eco will be priced at £149.99 and the DTR 67500 Eco at £179.99.

  • Now how many of these DVR/PVR can actually record from a Sky box and then play it? I've a HD TV but only normal Sky (can't see the cost per channel benefit of moving to HD) but can't get a harddisk based VCR. All these DVR systems seem to only want to record their own TV signals which isn't always what the customer wants. Doing timeshift on my laptop via an external USB stick TV tuner is a pain and I don't have a TV-out socket on the laptop. Come on Sagem et all, do the decent thing and record/timeshift from an external source. You knwo it makes sense. Posted by adrianaitken, United Kingdom
  • These seem like great values with their specs for the retails and the added features of low power consumption, upconverting picture quality to HD, and the USB compatability. The article didn't say anything about retail availability, when and where? Posted by alan segal, USA
