Crysis 2 announced for consoles

Sequel will appear on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

EA has announced that the second instalment of its successful Crysis franchise will be developed by creators Crytek and employ the CryENGINE3 graphical engine, meaning that it'll appear on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Crysis was released in 2007 and was labelled as the sequel to Crytek's original "Far Cry" from 2004. None of the titles in the series have previously been developed for consoles however, so Crysis 2 appearing on the PS3 and Xbox 360 is unprecedented.

“The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio”, said Cevat Yerli, CEO and president of Crytek. “This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it’s the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3".
