Pioneer has unveiled a new slim, portable DVD and CD writer that offers a sleek, high-gloss black casing and the ability to write at speeds of up to 8x on DVD-R/+R, 6x on Dual/Double Layer DVDs and 24x to CD.
The DVR-XD08 connects to the PC through USB 2.0 and is angled as ideal for users of laptops and compact netbook PCs that typically don’t include optical drives.
The new portable drive gets what's said to be a whole range of proprietary Pioneer technologies to reduce noise, cut vibration and "ensure robust operation with advance performance over comparable products".
The DVR-XD08 is available now and comes complete with a copy of CyberLink’s DVD Suite 6 software to help users create videos, burn audio tracks and archive data to DVD and CD, the drive also gets an AC adapter for use with machines that don't support bus-power.
