Nintendo Wii Fit Plus: The latest E3 leak

E3 2009: The battle to loose weight begins

Nintendo is expected to release a new version of Wii Fit at the E3 gaming convention in Los Angeles next week.

According to reports in Japan's Nikkei newspaper, the Japanese company will release "Wii Fit Plus", a new version that will allow users to play against others over the internet in a battle of who can lose weight the fastest.

The news, which is likely to outrage Daily Mail readers, could see people going to extreme lengths to loose weight in an attempt to beat family and friends.

It is thought that the move is an attempt to fight off EA Sport Active, a fitness game for the Nintendo Wii that doesn't need the expensive Balance board accessory.

According to the paper "Wii Fit plus" will be more exacting in its measurements, allowing for more accurate monitoring of one's health.

The newspaper is also reporting, without citing sources, that the games company will be releasing a new version of Mario due out in the second half of 2009.

E3 is running from 1-4 June inclusive, so stay tuned for more information as it comes.

We will keep you posted.
