LG Electronics has announced its LH55 series of LCD HDTVs, with 240Hz technology, are now available online and at retailers nationwide in the US, bringing the same LH5000 goodness the UK's been enjoying, States-side.

Aimed at action movie and sports enthusiasts as well as video gamers, LG's LH55 features TruMotion 240Hz with scanning backlight technology that claims to improve motion picture response time for a smoother, more natural picture.

Other specs of note include an 80,000:1 contrast ratio, "invisible" speakers, an intelligent sensor for ambient light measurement and a "mechanical on/off switch" for those who don't do standby.

The LH55 series is currently available in 37-, 42-, 47- and 55-inch sizes at manufacturer's suggested retail prices of $1399.95, $1799.95, $2099.95, and $3899.95, respectively.
