Spotify goes punk

Epitaph Records deal revealed while more news promised soon

Following the news we brought you of the 127,000 new tracks added to the Spotify music streaming service mid-May, it's been revealed the service is bolstering its punk and alternative rock catalogue.

This boost in content is thanks to a deal with Epitaph Records, a California-based label owned by Brett Gurewitz, founding member of Bad Religion.

The label has California punk rock roots with bands such as The Offsping, Rancid, Pennywise and NOFX, while its current artists range from Converge to Escape The Fate, Set Your Goals, New Found Glory, Ghost Of A Thousand, The Blackout, Frank Turner and Every Time I Die.

The deal also includes content from The Anti label (Tom Waits, Booker T) as well as Burning Heart Records with albums released by Millencolin, Refused, INC, Kid Down, Sounds Like Violence, Raised Fist and The Hives.

The first batch of music from Epitaph is available in a new music update, while, more of interest to non-punk fans, Pocket-lint is promised more Spotify news later this week... We will keep you posted.
