Facebook has released a video advert extolling the virtues of its new Application Directory, introduced as part of its new "verified apps" scheme that charges developers to get their app approved, and therefore better promoted.

The ad, that can only be described as Apple-esque, sees your typical American voice-over man telling you how Facebook can help you "connect and share with friends in new ways" over a background of uplifting music.
