A back-to-basics move from US company Sakar has seen a manual 35mm single lens reflex camera get a re-launch in the States.

Aimed at students - as well as those who can't stand the pace of the modern consumer electronics industry - the Vivitar V3800N has been revived from its "all but discontinued" status.

Priced from $169 - around £107 - Sakar, the company that bought Vivatar, says the old school SLR has been brought back in response to retailer and consumer requests.

The camera is offered in three packages with a 50mm lens, or a 28-70mm zoom lens, and various accessories and is on sale in the US through Wal-Mart, among others.
