Orange Power Pump unveiled for Glastonbury

Phone charger powered by legwork

Orange has unveiled a new compact mobile phone charger prototype, the Orange Power Pump, that it will take to Glastonbury this year.

Following the dance charger and recharge pod from last year, this year's offering is described as a lightweight unit "powered by sheer legwork".

Created by GotWind, the Orange Power Pump harnesses kinetic energy from an air bed foot pump which in turn drives a turbine within the Power Pump, the energy is then converted into an electrical current to re-charge mobile phones.

Orange will be showcasing the Orange Power Pump at this year's Glastonbury Festival, taking place from 24th to the 28 June, which will also see the Orange Chill 'n' Charge tent offering 600 mobile phone charging points.
