Queen gets gold-plated Nintendo Wii

No white plastic version for her royal highness

Queen gets gold-plated Nintendo Wii

We've seen plenty of "bling-ed" up products here at Pocket-lint, but I don't think we've seen a gold plated Nintendo Wii, well until now that is.

Games maker THQ has decided that Her Majesty the Queen needs to get in on the Wii gaming action and therefore rather than just send her one they picked up from the high street, has sent her one coated in gold.

Why? A PR stunt of course to promote their new BIG Family game hitting the shops soon.

No word on pricing or whether you'll be able to get one yourself however.

"BIG Family Games is the ultimate Wii game to get all family members, from grandparents to young children, playing together. The Royal Family is arguably the most important family in the country so we felt that they had to have a copy of the new game", said Danielle Robinson, at THQ, clearly trying to shoehorn a reason in for sending Buckingham Palace the console.

According to THQ the Queen and other members of the Royal Family will be able to use their new gold Wii to play 24 unique twists on classic family games including golf, tennis, ladder golf, lawn darts, horseshoes, bocce and more.
