Toshiba launches "world's first" laptop with 512GB SSD
Whopping solid-state drive integrated in dynabook SS RX2/WAJ

Toshiba has announced the world's first notebook with a 512GB solid-state drive. The machine is available today from Toshiba's shop - but it's limited to the Japanese market for the time being.
The dynabook SS RX2/WAJ also contains a 12-hour battery, low-voltage CPU and "transreflective" LCD, which uses sunlight to make the screen more visible, rather than less. It measures 19.5mm to 25.5mm and weighs 1kg.
Solid state drives don't have any moving parts, in contrast with HDDs. Toshiba claims that the 512GB model in its dynabook boosts access speeds by 300% for read and 250% for write. The main drawback is the price - expect this machine to cost several thousand pounds.
