Wi-Fi-only SlingPlayer Mobile launches for iPhone

For £17.99

Sling Media has finally announced the availability of a Wi-Fi-only version of its SlingPlayer Mobile application for iPhone and iPod touch.

Rather than offering over-the-air streaming, when in a Wi-Fi enabled area connected to a Slingbox SOLO or PRO, the SlingPlayer Mobile software will allow users to watch and control their home television at any time from any location on their iPhone or iPod.

Sling Media came into criticism from owners of older Slingbox devices, as the app will only work with the two most recent devices from the company, although they did offer a discounted "upgrade programme" for existing owners.

Despite the Wi-Fi only capabilities, the SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone and iPod touch is priced at £17.99, available now for download at the iPhone App Store.
