Star Trek fans will soon be able to boldly go where no phone caller has gone before with the launch of a Star Trek inspired communicator phone.

Designed to look like a Communicator from the original Star Trek series but with an interface on the inside reticent of The Next Generation series, the phone is powered by the Window Mobile operating system so you can access schedule information, contacts and other data and connect it to a PC.

Sona Mobile, the company behind the phone, has teamed up with Nickelodeon and Viacom the licensees of the show to make this official merchandise.

Sona is offering up little information on actual specs, however it does say that the phone is compatible with wireless networks around the world suggesting it could be Quad Band, likewise judging from image shots the phone will feature a large colour screen.

The phone comes complete with Trek-themed menu system and sounds, Downloadable ringtones and wallpaper as well as the promise of exclusive content, access to online communities and episodes and movie to watch on the go.
