Palm Pre launch pinned down to a weekend

Leaked docs reveal "launch lunch" on 5 June

It seems as if the launch of the Palm Pre in the US, the date of which has been a heavily-guarded secret, may have been pinned down to a weekend by info from insider leaks.

We've already brought you the news that US retailer Best Buy is to be getting hold of a "limited inventory of Pre handsets for a trial launch on June 7th", and now it seems the official operator launch date may have been revealed.

US blog Boy Genius Report has nabbed some internal Palm docs from an "anonymous tipster" suggesting a series of Sprint and Palm meetings will be concluding with a "LAUNCH LUNCH!" that will take place on Friday 5 June.

Whether or not this, if genuine, is just an internal launch, or the actual date the Pre will go on sale is still open for speculation, but US-based Pre-lovers might want to keep that weekend free just in case.
