From what we can see this looks like a great saving if you are looking to purchase a new LCD telly.

Richer Sounds have dropped the price of the Hitachi UT42MX70 LCD TV to £499.99.

We have looked around and it's difficult to find this anywhere cheaper, in fact most retailers seem to have been left behind and are still selling the HD Ready TV for over £1000.

Featuring full HD and 100Hz technology the TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and at 35mm thick, is apparently one of the slimmest 42-inchers on the market.

Because of its slimness however, you won't get a TV tuner fitted, but provided you have a SkyHD, VirginHD, a Freesat box you shouldn't find this to be a problem.

Finally, we presume because of the price the Hitachi has sold out online, so if you want to pick one up you'll have to visit one of the Richer Sounds stores.
