Panasonic has revealed the price for its LUMIX DMC-GH1, the latest member of its G Micro System of interchangeable lens cameras.

The Micro Four Thirds offering dubbed a "creative HD hybrid" as it records not only pics but also high def movies at the press of one button, will set UK consumers back a steep £1299.99.

Capable of shooting 1080/24p movies with continuous autofocus action from the lens, the GH1 offers a 12.1-megapixel high-speed Live MOS sensor and the Venus Engine HD image processor.

There's also two CPUs, a LUMIX G VARIO HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S, 10x zoom interchangeable lens and a 3-inch LCD as well as a "live" view finder.

Pricing has recently been set in the States at $1499.95, which works out as £995 as a direct conversion.

As a comparison, Nikon's D5000 DSLR - not a smaller Micro Four Thirds model and only capable of shooting video at 720p, costs £799.99.
