Just 12% of UK radio listeners tune in via DAB

Although over 90% of the UK's population listen to the radio, the struggling digital DAB platform has managed to capture just 12.7% of the market, according to the latest Rajar stats.
The industry body has revealed that in the first quarter of 2009 the overall proportion of the UK listening on some kind of digital platform was low, with little increase on the year before.
12.7% went to DAB, 3.4% listen through Freeview or the like on a digital television and just 2.2% listen via the Internet.
Internet radio does not seem to be growing despite the ever greater numbers of those connected via home or mobile broadband. The Internet's share of UK radio listening hours in the first quarter came in at just 0.1% up from last year.
Similarly, DAB's listening audience rose just 1.8% compared to the previous year, while the number of people who have listened over mobile phone rose - up from 11.6 to 13%.
