Dyson patents cuboid kitchen gadgets
Looks to saving worktop space for next innovation

James Dyson is looking to the kitchen for his next innovation, plans for which have been revealed in a recently filed US patent application.
Dyson wants to help homeowners save space on overcrowded kitchen worktops by redesigning our kitchen gadgets into more svelte form factors.
Because of their current design, kettles, toasters and the like need space around them for their protruding features, or so that their controls can be accessed.
"Due to their various different shapes and sizes, these appliances cannot be closely packed together on the counter, resulting in an amount of wasted counter space between the appliances which can't be used for other purposes, such as food preparation", reads the patent application.
Dyson's design sees all free-standing kitchen gadgets made into minimalist, wipe-clean, tall cuboids that can be pushed together with controls in the lids or front panel.
