Acer pulled the covers off their new line-up of notebooks, netbooks, nettops and AIOs in London yesterday which we detailed earlier in April.

Two new netbook models were on display, the Aspire One 751 and D250, the former taking a slight departure with some interesting design details.

The 11.6-inch Aspire One is equipped with an Intel Atom processor and Mobile Intel US15W Express Chipset and claims 8 hours battery life based on a 6 cell 5200 mAh battery.

With a 160GB hard drive and a multi card reader, there's also 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G options, Dolby Pro Logic sound and a WXGA back-lit LED screen.

Alas, Acer provided us with the tech spec for most of their other new models, but not a breakdown of all the options for their new netbooks. The price is suggested to be around £349 (but we don't know what you get for that) and it will be hitting the shelves in May.

In the meantime, here are some pics of the new dinky PC.

  • Wow, I could see myself buying this. But with Windows 7 just around the corner and rumours of a Apple netbook, the best thing is probably to wait and see Posted by Misund007, UK
  • Looks very nice, not so sure about the keyboard though - i'd prefer a keyboard which had contoured keys (IE isn't completely flat.)

As an aside, I thought there was a condition to Microsoft's licensing XP that it couldn't be installed on laptops with larger than a 10" screen (or was I dreaming)?

  • John B - the size limitations of the screen was something we discussed in the press conference, as many people consider 10-inches to be the limit of a "netbook" and the limit that Microsoft set. Massimo D'Angelo said that the new limit was 12-inches.

None of this really makes any difference, because you can buy XP on screenless devices, and even AIOs which are much larger - see the Eee Top and a raft of new nettops, including Acer's own Aspire Revo, which could be hooked up to anything you wanted.
