Android Cupcake update now due May

T-Mobile Germany confirms new timescale

T-Mobile's German site has revealed that the "Cupcake" update for the Android mobile phone operating system, due to the operator's G1 phone, is now due in May.

Promising lots of improvements, 1.5 introduces features such as speech recognition, home screen widgets, "live" folders and virtual keyboards.

In addition there's support for video recording, Bluetooth tweaks, better integration with some of Google's online services and a "UI polish" promised for a lot of the system's features.

The 1.5 update was due this month, but it seems it has been delayed, as was the Android-based HTC Magic, now due to launch on Vodafone on 5 May.

The HTC Magic will offer the updated OS, so presumably G1 owners will get the update at around the same time, but there's still no confirmation from T-Mobile in the UK.
