Microsoft will be releasing its latest version of yet to be released Windows 7 operating system on the 5 May, the company has confirmed.

The new RC (Release Client) version is, according to a posting on one of the company's blogs, "on track for April 30th for download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th".

Microsoft says that it was receiving feedback "every 15 seconds" for an entire week at one point and means that many of the bugs have been fixed while many features improved.

"Many of your suggestions helped us refine the new and improved taskbar, the behaviour of Aero Peek, Touch, Windows Media Player, and much more". said Brandon LeBlanc, a member of the Windows 7 team in his post on The Windows Blog.

In the company's quarterly results posted earlier in the week, Microsoft confirmed that it was still on schedule to release the new Windows 7 operating system at the beginning of 2010.
