In the US, Verizon Wireless has announced that it is to offer the Samsung "Trance" mobile phone for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in with a 2-year contract.

The mid-range Trance offers music player functionality including Bang & Olufsen ICEpower external speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1GB of on-board memory and microSDHC support for cards up to 16GB.

The sliding CDMA handset gets a 2.1-inch screen, 1.3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth. In addition there's mobile email and Verizon's V CAST music with Rhapsody support.

It's available in America from 24 April, no word on a UK launch.
