The UK has splashed out for a whopping 32 million games consoles as of January 2009, states stats company Gfk Chart Track.

The figure is the combined UK lifetime sales of the PS2, DS, PSP, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii consoles, but does not take into account older game systems going off the shelves from 2000 to 2009.

The three main gaming consoles have accumulated sales of 10 million units in the UK, but the PlayStation 2 matches that with 10 million sales of its own.

The Nintendo DS and the PSP saw sales of 12 million units in the UK with the DS capturing nearly 75% of the market.
