Nintendo has announced that boxing game Punch-Out is launching for the Wii across Europe on 22 May 2009.

With the Wii controllers, gamers can duck, dodge, jab and hook their way to victory and for the first time in Punch-Out history players can go head-to-head with a friend.

The new multiplayer mode allows two contenders to pit their wits against each other via a split screen.

There's also a single player "career" mode where gamers will play as Little Mac, a young boxer who wants to become World Champion fighting Punch-Out characters such as Von Kaiser, King Hippo and Glass Joe.
