House of Lords turns to YouTube

Wants to "relate better" to the "average person"

The House of Lords Information Committee, tasked with raising awareness, has turned to YouTube in order to "relate better" to the "average person".

Through a new YouTube channel, and an introductory video from Lord Tim Renton, the Committee is inviting voters to offer suggestions.

Aiming at that "average person... who often isn't very interested in politics, who doesn't listen to 'Yesterday in Parliament'", the Committee wants to know "how can we make them [Bills] more acceptable, understandable to you?"

"This is an experiment", Lord Renton states in the 3-minute video.

"It's not been done before, but it's very exciting and it shows our determination to use modern methods of communication - the internet, YouTube and so forth - to get the opinion of people such as yourselves on what you think about us and what you think we could do better".
