Software update offers fixes minor tweaks

31 January 2006 11:09 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Microsoft has released its first update for its next generation console the Xbox360 today in America.

Although we are still awaiting confirmation from Microsoft in the UK whether this is just a US announcement, gamers in the States will be able to get the free update by connecting their console to the Internet.

The new upgrade includes improvements to the Xbox Guide, the option to retain your saved games when you delete a profile and increased accuracy of "last time played".

The company has also included more detailed messaging for unreadable disk or region errors.

This free update is available to all Xbox Live members. Gamers connecting to the service will automatically have their console updated the next time they sign in to Xbox Live.
