Asus has announced the launch of the new F70 with the claim that it "defines the personal entertainment notebook experience".

The multimedia offering gets a 16:9 aspect ratio 17.3-inch 1080p HD LED backit display, Altec Lansing surround sound speakers and an HDMI port.

With a design apparently "reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis", the F70 offers Asus' "chiclet" keyboard complete with numeric keys and Express Gate technology for speedy boot-up times and an icon-based menu.

There are three models available, priced at £859, £879 and £959, all offering Vista and Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

Hard drives vary from 320GB to 500GB, memory is 3GB and 4GB while all models offer Bluetooth, an 8-in-1 card reader, 1.3MP webcam, DVD super multi drive, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS with 512MB dedicated graphics memory.
