Toshiba has announced a new range of netbooks with a larger screen than its 8.9-inch NB100 model currently available in the UK.

The UX series netbooks will offer a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixel resolution display and get Intel's N280 Atom chip, along with 1GB of memory and a 160GB hard disk drive.

Even though the screen is bigger, Toshiba has shrunk the new netbook's dimension to less than that of the NB100 with the UX series measuring in at 263 x 192 x 31mm and weighing between 1.2 and 1.3Kg. Battery life has also been improved with the claim of 4 hours.

The UX series are going on sale in Japan this week for around £400. Toshiba in the UK says it has nothing to announce regarding the new netbooks.
