Daily Tech Deal: Mazuma gives you cash for old mobiles

Money saving deals, offers and innovations

21 April 2009 13:00 GMT / By Ben Crompton

Today the tech deal brings you news that Mazuma, an online company that specialises in recycling mobile phones, is offering not only cash for old mobiles but also Argos or Homebase vouchers.

We know for most of us the cash option always looks favourable but if you do go for the vouchers you'll get an extra 10% on the trade in value. Meaning that if you were planning on a new shed, bike or perhaps some quality jewellery from Elizabeth Duke then this should work out as the better option.

As well as this it means your old rap rod will hopefully go to a better place as opposed to going to landfill or just gathering dust on the shelf.

The site itself has a model search where on entry of the details will come up with a value. N95s are apparently going for around £105 or £115.50 with the voucher option.

  • Tried to see what they would give me for my Blackberry Bold. It said it was worth £54. I an get over £200 on ebay for it. I know these people are in it to make money but that is just stupid.
I thought this was mean to be a "deal" not a rip off.

  • Same as their TV ads - I think it's amazing anyone would fall for their low prices. Posted by adrianaitken, United Kingdom
  • There are a whole bunch of these companies around (envirofone, fonebank, earth mobile, mopay), Mazuma just happen to be the ones most heavily advertised on TV at the moment and you'll very likely get more by shopping around (although it's unlikely you'll find anyone to match an eBay price on a recent phone).

I have to wonder if the daily tech deal is based purely on post-midnight TV commercials. Tomorrow's deal: meet girls who want to party in your area, only £1.50 per text.
