Dorling Kindersley has announced that it is to publish the officially licensed "Halo" encyclopaedia, due on bookshop shelves by Christmas 2009.

The Halo Encyclopaedia will be a "comprehensive guide to the characters, weapons, vehicles, equipment, and locations from Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, and Halo 3: ODST".

Created in collaboration with Microsoft, the book will offer 352 full colour pages and a foreword by Halo boss Frank O'Connor.

Interestingly, DK says the Halo Encyclopaedia is the publisher's first foray into a comprehensive reference book for a video game property. It's due out in November.
