LG confirms Viewty II

15 April 2009 13:37 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

We've brought you news on the successor to the LG Viewty from a rumour story, but the handset's existence has now been confirmed by LG.

Made official through a blog post on LG's German site, the LG GC900 - or Viewty "Smart" - will launch as the slimmest 8-megapixel cameraphone in the world at 12.4mm.

With a 3-inch touchscreen, the phone will offer a customisable home screen and HSDPA connectivity.

As well as the 8-megapixel camera the new handset will be able to record video in 720 x 480 pixel resolution and will boast geotagging functionality thanks to the integrated GPS receiver.

Word has it that in the UK the Viewty Smart will launch on Orange, but we're yet to hear anything official from either LG, or Orange, in the UK.

UPDATE: LG UK is trying to confirm when this is scheduled for launch.
