Sonos issues 2.8 update and new iPhone app

• I like my Sonos system a lot. But I do get wound up by companies that pay people to plug their products by posting comments that appear not to be commercials, but in fact are blatant advertisements masquerading as independent unsolicited feedback.
  
  While I'm having a bit of a rant about dubious marketing practices, it needs to be said that Sonos's (current) assertion that: "The Sonos Controller for iPhone™ is a free application that turns your iPhone (or iPod® touch) into a full-fledged Sonos Controller." is grossly misleading.
  
  A Sonos controller connects to the proprietary Sonos Wifi network which is very clever and seamlessly connects and bridges if you move out of range of a particular ZonePlayer. the iPhone App requires a separate Wifi network. In order to get something approaching the same functionality, I would have to buy a separate Wifi point for each Zoneplayer. Then of course, I have to pay to run them 24/7. In the UK that works out to about GBP1 per watt. A Zoneplayer is very efficient at about 7w, so it costs GBP7 per year to run on standby, My wifi modem/router in the attic (which doesn't reach anywhere in the house so I have that part disabled) used about 20w. So to get a network of 3 extenders would cost me c. 3x GBP45 = GBP135 plus 3x GBP20 = GBP60 per year to run and get the functionality that Sonos is promising for free. Thank you, Sonos!
