The Tate offers free content via iTunes U

Interview, lectures and films available now

It's been announced that Apple's educational "iTunes U" has seen the Tate sign up to provide free content to the service.

The agreement will see iTunes U's 100,000-strong educational archive get interviews, short films and lectures from the Tate available to download for free.

The "Tate Symposia" content sees experts discussing topics, such as research or exhibitions while "Talk & Discussions" covers debates from artists, art historians and celebrity visitors to the Tate.

"Courses, Workshops & Study Days" look at all areas of British art and is aimed at different levels of learning.

"Tate is delighted to come on board with iTunes U", said Will Gompertz, director of Tate Media.

"In the world of new media nothing can be achieved alone; by working with exceptional companies such as Apple we can use the Internet to help fulfil Tate’s mission to make art available to all".

Other new content to iTunes U also includes material from Chateau de Versailles and Fondation Cartier.
