Jobs still "closely involved" in Apple

Steve Jobs remains "closely involved" in the goings-on at Apple, despite his ongoing spell of medical leave and is currently working on an Apple tablet from home, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Quoting "people familiar with the matter", the WSJ asserts that although chief operating officer Tim Cook is in "tight" control of day-to-day operations at Apple, Jobs "remains closely involved in key aspects of running the company".

Jobs has "continued to work on the company's most important strategies and products from home", the sources state, with Jobs regularly reviewing products and product plans, and was "particularly involved" in the iPhone 3.0 software.

Of interest to those hoping for a hint of future Apple devices, the articles states: "People privy to the company's strategy say Apple is working on new iPhone models and a portable device that is smaller than its current laptop computers but bigger than the iPhone or iPod touch".

Steve Jobs is due to make a return to Apple in June when his 6 months leave of absence is up. June is also when Apple's annual developer event will take place - thought to be a possible launch pad for the next-gen iPhone.
