Sony has confirmed that it is ending production of its robot division signalling an end to pooch Aibo and pint-sized toddler Qrio.Sony has confirmed that the Aibo will be discontinued from March, once all current stocks are sold out.
However the company has said that its technology, such as visual recognition and sound recognition, will be continued to be used in their research for Artificial Intelligence.
Sony has also said that the technology may be integrated in any future Sony products.
Readers who have an Aibo sitting at home, will be pleased to know that the company will continue to sell consumable accessories such as batteries as spare parts from the customer support centre for the foreseeable future. Gadgets, Robots, Sony
