11 April 2009 22:53 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Apple has said that it is nearing one billion apps downloaded from its App Store and in an attempt to reach that all impressive number quicker, it is giving anyone who downloads an app the chance to win big.

Apple say that any iPhone or iPod touch users who download an app before the big number is reached will be in with a chance of winning a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro.

You'll be able to enter as many times as possible, with no purchase necessary, however Apple has said that you'll only be limited to 25 entries per person per day.

Those keen to enter without laying out any cash could opt for one of the top 20 apps within the store. Suggestions include Facebook, iPint, Google Earth, PAC-Man lite and Touch Hockey: FSS.
