Napster the once illegal download service gone legal, has targeted the UK as the first market for the entry into Europe of its new legal online music service: Napster 2.0.

The service, which was originally launched in the US last October has already sold over 5 million downloads against strong competition from the likes of the iTunes service. Napster plan to roll out the download service across Europe however are planning to use the UK as a launch-pad before tackling further countries.

A localised version of Napster 2.0 is set to launch in the UK before the end of the summer, complete with UK-specific genres, promotions, and content from domestic acts, at: http://www.napster.co.uk. This will be the first time Napster has been made available outside of North America. Price of downloads has yet to be confirmed.
