Sharp and Pioneer announce optical disc partnership
"Shar-oneer", or perhaps "Pio-sharp" to focus on Blu-ray

Sharp and Pioneer's March 2008 agreement to team up on LCD TVs has obviously been a roaring success as the two companies are announcing a new deal.
The two companies have signed a partnership agreement on creating a joint venture in the optical disk business area.
With the plan to make "more effective use" of the management resources (which sounds a little like redundancies), Pioneer and Sharp will be particularly focusing on the Blu-ray disc market where, they say, "significant growth is expected in the future".
The new venture will be kicking off from October 2009 and will see the "development, design, manufacture, and sales of optical disk products, focusing on optical disk drives, recorders, and players".
