Google is continuing its massive feature update roll-out this time with the launch of a colour filter option within its image search feature.

Users can now use the colour filter, or color filter, for our American readers, in your own image searches to narrow searches further based on the predominant colour found in the image.

Users will now see a drop down colour box allowing them to narrow the search by a basic array of colours.

Google software engineer Donald Tanguay developed the feature suggesting, on the official Google blog, that the tool would be ideal for finding tulips of a certain colour.

"Just search for something the way you normally would, such as [tulips]. On the results page, click on the "All colors" drop down in the blue bar and choose a color. For example, try restricting your results to [yellow tulips]. Want to see purple tulips instead? Simply click on the color filter again, select purple, and voila — you have pages of beautiful images!" said Tanguay.

The new feature is being rolled out across Google's servers from today.
